Julie is a life long resident of Bay County and a proud graduate of Cedar Grove Elementary, Patterson Sixth Grade Center, Mowat Junior High, and Mosley High School. Julie earned her B.A. in English, History and Physics from Troy University in 1991 and in 1994 earned her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law and was admitted to the Florida Bar. After law school, Julie returned to her hometown of Panama City where she has practiced law in the areas of Estate Planning, Wills and Probate, and General Civil Litigation for over thirty years. Presently, Julie and her husband, Bob, own and operate The Sombathy Law Firm located in a historic building on Magnolia Avenue.
After Hurricane Michael devastated our area in October 2018, Julie was a member of the Executive Board of Michael’s Angels, an advocacy group that was formed by a group of local women to fight for federal and state relief funds for our catastrophically impacted region. Michael’s Angels organized the Rally in Tally which was instrumental in obtaining better relief for our area, particularly with respect to the funding of our schools which was in serious jeopardy.
