Meet Kelly Forehand! Kelly moved to the area as a teenager when her dad was reassigned to Tyndall AFB. She graduated from Florida State University with a Masters in Elementary Education and has lived and worked in Bay County since 1999.

Beginning in 2010, (although the idea to start a school began long before that), she was part of a team to make University Academy a new educational reality in our community. Her roles around UA’s campus have been extremely diverse. Beginning as a Board of Director from the school’s inception until July 2014, she decided it was time to return to her lifelong passion of teaching! She taught kindergarten and first grade for 12 years at both UA and Patronis Elementary. While starting a family, she took time off from the classroom setting and worked part-time as a University Supervisor of student teachers, as well as, an Adjunct Professor in the College of Education at FSU-PC. She served as Dean of Curriculum and Instruction for several years and will begin year two as UA’s Principal.

Philanthropy has always been near and dear to her heart from sorority days in college to the Junior Service League; helping the underserved has always been an important role in her life. She is currently the President of One Positive Place, Inc. – an organization that supports the After School Assistance Program. Impact 100 is another noteworthy organization that she is proud to be involved with.

She has two grown sons and two sweet little Schnauzers. They love to travel, cheer on the Noles and spend time with family and friends.
