You Don't Have to Wait

When I was given the opportunity to join Impact100 Gulf Coast through the support of my boss, who is also a member, I knew it was something I couldn’t pass up. As one of the youngest members, I saw it as more than just a chance to give back. It was an opportunity to learn from women who have spent years investing in our community and to be part of something that creates real, lasting change.

Before joining, I had never experienced philanthropy on this scale and I think that’s what initially drew me in. Watching hundreds of women come together, each contributing to make transformational grants possible, has completely changed the way I think about giving. It has shown me that you don’t have to wait until later in life to make a meaningful impact.

Being part of Impact100 has also introduced me to incredible nonprofit leaders and passionate members who care deeply about making our community stronger. Every event, site visit and conversation has reinforced how much good can happen when people choose to invest where they live. As part of an active duty military family, that has been especially meaningful. When you move frequently and have to create a new sense of home every few years, it can be easy to feel disconnected from the communities you live in. Impact100 has given me a way to become invested in a place that, while temporary, still deserves my time, energy and heart.

I am incredibly grateful that my employer believed in this mission enough to sponsor my membership. It has allowed me to grow personally and professionally while becoming part of an organization that is creating lasting change across our community. I hope more young professionals are given opportunities like this because the next generation deserves a seat at the table, too.
